Omi made a mental note to himself, for what had to be the umpteenth time that day. Never again would he torment Ran like that... not unless there was a bed they were already on, and NO chance of the soreness he was experiencing now.
"Hey there, Bishonen..." Yoji said cheerily upon entering the store. He clapped a hand down onto Omi's shoulder, then nearly skittered back in shock as the boy let out a strangled cry and nearly backhanded him.
"Knock it OFF!" Omi shouted, glaring daggers at the blonde and throwing his apron onto the counter. "KEN! I'm taking off. Let the Hormone King cover my shift since he wants to be such an ass." With that, the normally collected boy stomped off up the stairs, leaving Ken and Yoji staring at each other in mute shock.
"What'd I do?" Yoji asked, honestly unsure.
Ran caught the tail-end of the question as he was coming back into the shop from his delivery, arching an eyebrow at the sight of Yoji in an apron. "Didn't think you were on shift today. Ken," he added a greeting to the man that was taking his spot in the shop for the afternoon. "Where's Omi?"
"I wasn't," Yoji replied, shrugging a bit. "But then Omi decided to pitch a fit at me for calling him Bishonen and stormed out, telling me that as the resident 'hormone', I could cover the rest."
"Out which way?" Ran demanded, eyes narrowing. He'd gotten closer to all of them once Omi had stepped in and saved him from himself, but he still spent almost all his time either alone or with Omi. "Out-out, or upstairs out?"
"Upstairs out," Yoji explained, and frowned softly. "Ran?" he asked, reaching to stop the othe rman before he hared off. "He didn't look too good, either."
That stopped the redhead. He looked back at Yoji, frowning faintly. "What do you mean?"
"Really pale." With that, Yoji went back to work, assisting an older gentleman that had walked in.
Frowning deeply, Ran tossed his apron on the back table, trusting that one of the two others would clean it up. He headed upstairs a little more slowly, mind mulling over the worst possibilities of what could've happened to the boy, and in the hallway upstairs, he hesitated, looking between his door and Omi's, wondering just which room he'd find his lover in.
The answer wasn't too hard to figure out, once one stopped and was silent. The sound of running water came from off to Ran's left side... towards the door the blonde hacker had claimed as his own not long after they'd all been assigned to each other.
Ran blinked at the odd hurt that prompted within him. He'd gotten used to finding Omi in his room when Omi was upset, tucked into Ran's bed or sitting at the window. He hesitated over it, then decided that he needed to talk to Omi as much for himself as for the blond, and he headed for the door.
Omi's apartment door may have been closed, but the bathroom door had been left open. The water was running hard, and there was no sign of steam coming out of the doorway at all... mainly because Omi was currently shivering underneath a cool spray as he leaned his forehead against the tile wall. It was freezing... but it made his back numb when he stood under it. "Damn him," he snarled, having truly wanted to deck Yoji for smacking him like that.
"Yoji... or me?" Ran asked from the bathroom doorway, just loud enough to be heard over the spray.
"Yoji," came the reply, Omi nearly spitting out the word as he shifted his weight from one foot to the other.
"Would an icepack help?" Ran asked, aching slightly at the sight. "You're going to give yourself hypothermia if you stay in there too long."
"No, Ran, it wouldn't. Omi glanced over his shoulder, blue eyes narrowed as they fixed on the redhead. "Aren't you supposed to be in the shop?"
"Ken has this afternoon," Ran pointed out. "And you already informed Yoji of the schedule change." Ran watched a moment longer, then made up his mind, starting to peel his clothes off.
Sighing, Omi just shook his head, not bothering to argue. It was a pointless gesture anyway. "Just don't touch me."
"I won't touch your back," Ran countered, as he stripped the last of his clothes off and stepped gingerly into the shower, hissing as some of the cold spray caught him. "But I am going to warm the rest of you up, dammit."
"I'm fine." Omi pulled back just a bit as Ran reached for him, then turned his back fully into the spray again. He let out a hiss, wincing as the water hit him a bit wrong and nearly made him jump.
"Trust me," Ran pressed, reaching to Omi's arms with very careful hands. "Please, Omi..."
"NO!" Omi whined as he batted away Ran's hands, looking up to him miserably. "Don't TOUCH me, it fucking hurts!"He knew he sounded like a spoiled brat, but he didn't really care at the moment. He was in pain, and he was cranky, damnit.
Ran's jaw tightened, and he stared at Omi for a moment before dropping his arms. "Then will you at least touch me?" he demanded. "Just press against me. Keep warm here."
With what sounded like a resigned grumble, Omi finally stepped forward, leaning against Ran, but keeping himself under the water still. "There," he muttered. "Happy?"
"Happier," Ran murmured, his hand coming up to pet Omi's hair gently, carefully avoiding touching any other part of him. "Omi...?"
"What?"
"I'm sorry." The words were soft but fervent, murmured into Omi's ear. "I never meant to hurt you."
Omi paused for a moment, then wilted, shivering into Ran's grasp. "It's not your fault," he whispered. "It's mine. I brought it on, I'm the one that started it, and I'm the one that got what I deserved."
"You're wrong," Ran said, wanting to hug Omi to him but daring only to rest his other hand lightly against Omi's hip. "You've never deserved pain."
Omi bit down on his lip to keep from arguing, and simply nodded. "I wasn't complaining at the time."
"That doesn't matter. You are now," Ran said softly, closing his eyes. "I won't let this happen again. I promise." He pressed a kiss to the top of Omi's head.
Smirking faintly, Omi just nuzzled against Ran's chest. "Just means I have to stay on hands and knees for a bit."
The nuzzle eased the tightness in Ran's chest, calming him. "And that we never use a carpeted floor again," he added firmly.
"Agreed." Omi was a bit better after that... and finally slid into Ran's hold completely, letting the other man embrace him. "Just be careful...."
"Always," Ran murmured, his arms around the curved part of Omi's back, that wasn't rubbed raw. "Yoji was worried about you," he added after a bit. "Extremely worried."
Snorting faintly, Omi just rested hsi cheek against Ran's chest. "He was being a twit."
"You should've seen the look in his eyes when he was talking to me, though," Ran said, considering. "I... have an idea of how he can make it up to you."
One brow lifted as Omi glanced up to his lover. "What..." he asked, half dreading the answer. Usually when Yoji 'made up' with someone, the someone in question wound up embarrassed or ready to kill him.
"He has a date tonight, you know," Ran said quietly. "I'll make him cancel it to pick up some of that salve we used on Ken's scrapes after that one game. You know... the stuff across the city?"
"That'll work." Omi could agree to that. "And he has to walk."
"Let him take the train as well, or we'll never get it back," Ran countered, smiling. "But he can pick up some of those sweetbuns you like so much, too...?"
"Deal."
