[Weiß Kreuz] Living
Title: Living Author: Trio Maxwell-Chang Fandom: Weiß Kreuz Pairing or POV: Nagi + Ran Written for: Rick Special Note: I suspect it's probably not what you wanted, Rick, when you requested a lesson in survival, but it's what the muses dictated. This is another Christmas Drabble, also requested via AIM. Merry Christmas!
It was a strange meeting. Ran looked up from his sister’s grave, and there he was, face impassive and storm-blue eyes cold. Lost in his grief, Ran could only stand there dumbly as Nagi stepped around the marker. He laid a small bundle of Michaelmas daisies beside Ran’s larger bouquet, then glanced at the distraught man. “Weiss.”
Ran wanted to hurt him for what had happened. The urge to take his life in his hands by striking out at the telekinetic was almost obsessive, but before he could do anything, Nagi continued. “You look like shit.” The words were casual, dismissive and unimpressed. Ran flinched. “What’s wrong with you? Now that she’s gone, you don’t care anymore? Is that it?” Another flinch, and Nagi smirked as he scored a hit. Ran couldn’t explain.
“You’ve been living for the wrong person, Weiss,” Nagi said quietly, staring at Ran for a moment more before moving around the headstone until he stood behind the grave once more. “Try living for yourself. It makes everything work out a little better.” Ran had expected a smugly superior tone from the boy, but this calm, almost sympathetic voice made him feel smaller than any egotism ever could have.
“You’re the one living. Not her.” Nagi’s hands splayed over the headstone, and he leaned forward slightly, teeth showing in the cold smile. “If you want to remember her, by all means, remember her. If you want to be her, though… you’re going to have to follow in her footsteps.” He paused, then turned away, tossing the final words over his shoulder as he padded off. “Think about it.”
