Warnings: Extremely silly. Brutalisation of canon. Swearing. Pairing: Zack/Sephiroth. Mentions of Cloud but he's not romantically involved. Word Count:First one is 500 ish second one is 400 ish Summary: In the 1st one Zack convinces General Sephiroth to give him a kiss and in the 2nd Seph asks Zack to have dinner with him.
These weren’t written to be two parts of one, but you could see them as one if you wanted.
‘It’s cold,’ Zack whined.
He looked over at Sephiroth who just stared fixedly at the roof of the tent and did not deign to make any reply.
‘It’s really cold,’ Zack elaborated, ‘at this rate I’ll wake up frozen onto the ground, if I wake up at all that is. I wonder if I’ll even survive until morning in order to wake up frozen.’
There was a brief rustle and then a blanket hit Zack in the face.
‘Aww, thanks Seph, but top blankets don’t really make that much difference.’ ‘What then, do you wish me to do to assist you?’ Sephiroth said with strained patience evident in his tone.
‘Hey thanks, Seph, that’s really decent of you,’ Zack said as he wriggled out of his bedding. ‘What? Lieutenant, what are you-, I didn’t even-, oh for fuck’s sake.’
Zack squeezed himself into Sephiroth’s sleeping bag and snuggled himself up next to his General.
‘Lieutenant Fair, what are you trying to do to me?’ Sephiroth said wearily. ‘Turn around then.’ ‘What? Why?’ ‘Because.’ ‘Why?’ ‘It’ll be better that way.’
With a long sigh Sephiroth struggled to turn around in the bag, Zack cuddled up against him and tucked his head under Sephiroth’s chin.
‘No, wait, put your arms around me, , yep that’s right, perfect.’
For a few minutes the only sound was the wind moaning relentlessly outside the tent and Zack breathing so contentedly it sounded as though he was purring.
‘This way is better?’ asked Sephiroth. ‘Mmmmm, don’t you think so?’ Zack said, giving him a little squeeze. ‘I suppose it is, yes.’ Sephiroth said quietly. ‘Why is it that you want to be so close to me all the time?’ ‘Because you’re important to me, dipshit.’ ‘What did you call me lieutenant Fair?’ Sephiroth asked sternly. ‘I called you important to me.’ Zack replied with a wide grin. ‘Are you feeling alright lieutenant?’ ‘Great, but I could feel better.’ ‘Oh?’ ‘Kiss me.’
Sephiroth’s eyes snapped dangerously to Zack’s and he took a breath, ready to tell his lieutenant that he’d gone too far this time, ready to tell him to get back into his own bed and feel grateful he wasn’t going to be court-martialled, but all the words came up against a brick wall and that brick wall was the realisation that what he wanted to do more than anything was kiss the bright eyed SOLDIER in his arms.
Slowly the General bent his head down and softly touched his lips to Zack’s, pushing gently. He wasn’t prepared for the sensations that soared through him at the feel of Zack’s warm mouth against his and he tightened his hold on the other man slightly. He only allowed the kiss for a few brief moments before he drew back and Zack smiled at him tentatively.
‘You know what would make me feel even better?’ ‘Zack?’ ‘Seph?’ ‘Shutup, close your eyes and go to sleep.’ ‘But-’ ‘Now.’ ‘Yes Sir.’
Cloud was laid back on his bunk bed, viciously belt feeding himself cherry and choc chip cookies that he’d found in Zack’s sock drawer. Zack wondered vaguely if Cloud had ever seen food before he joined the army, let alone eaten it, and then turned his attention back to his crossword. Neither of them was aware that General Sephiroth had slipped silently into the room until suddenly a gravely voice sounded out a greeting.
‘Lieutenant Fair, lieutenant Strife.’
Zack jumped up and stood sharply to attention. Cloud scrambled off his bunk to follow suit, smacking his head on the bed above and scattering cookies everywhere in the process. He just about managed to swallow the enormous mouthful of food he’d been chewing as he watched one stray cookie roll across the floor and come to a standstill against General Sephiroth’s boot.
General Sephiroth, to Zack and Cloud’s great relief, seemed to decide that it would be best to ignore the offending biscuit and focused instead upon Cloud, who was rapidly turning a rather worrying shade of red.
‘Are you quite alright, lieutenant Strife?’ ‘Y-yeah Sir, I was just-’ ‘Good.’ The General said sharply before turning his icy green gaze over to Zack, ‘Lieutenant Fair.’ ‘Sir.’ ‘Are you free this evening?’ ‘As a bird, Sir.’ ‘I wonder if you would give me the pleasure of your company, for dinner.’
Cloud gasped and blushed even more, Zack managed to keep his expression deceptively calm.
‘It would be my pleasure, Sir.’ ‘I’ll see you at seven then.’
General Sephiroth cast a last apprehensive glance at Cloud, who looked as though he was on the verge of exploding, and then briskly turned on his heel and departed, leaving the two lieutenants staring after him in stunned silence.
‘Fuck!’ Cloud managed to say after a few minutes had passed, ‘General Sephiroth just asked you on a dinner date Zack! You know what this means?’ ‘I hope so,’ whispered Zack. ‘No Zack, you know what this means? This means you won’t want that much to eat at lunch time, and it’s Wednesday, yeah?’
Zack turned to look at Cloud incredulously. ‘What!?’ ‘S-so can I have your crumble and custard? It’s crumble and custard on Wednesdays.’ ‘CLOUD!’ Zack yelled, smacking his friend with a pillow.
