Certainly, it was something their parents had never expected or anticipated. They had been raised together to create a loyal, lasting bond between them. It was supposed to be one of Master and Servant. But the war, and the isolation that followed had changed that. Perhaps it was because they never censored Hayner in what he said in private, nor did they stop Roxas from declaring that Hayner was his best friend.
They had put both babies in the same cradle to stay warm during the nights, and as Roxas got older and seemed to have some kind of condition where he got very cold at night, they simply allowed the bed-sharing to continue, perhaps thinking they they would eventually grow out of it as they reached puberty.
They couldn't have expected playful kissing games between little boys who weren't sleepy yet, nor general curiosity between them as they aged.
Hayner gave Roxas a pretendly bashful look. "Oh now see YOU are flattering me. I only ever wish to please you, My Lord, and in that I fear the pleasure," he smirked just a little, "Is mine." He presented Roxas with a slice of cake soaked in an orange liqueur. "Especially in exhaustion."
Abe looked over that the Prince's Companion and the Queen and nodded after a moment. "It seems more natural to him." Eve with just their one fight in the water, Abe could tell that Riku's best defense of anyone beside himself was probably to throw his own body in the way as a shield. Which would probably leave him dead or severely wounded. "You can tell... he enjoys this." The dancing, and the music.
"I think," Abe began, his face screwing up with some concentration, "While I did not see the fighting myself, and am enjoying the win," it was wonderful to be on the triumphant side, "I think I should not like to see war again, not even to prove that I CAN fight. I can prove my skills in tournament well enough. I should not like to see people suffer the wounds you did, Your Magesty, nor do I want to lose people I know as we did Shawn." He hadn't known the other boy very long, but he was still upset to have lost him.
Wait, the Princess? Abe flushed pink. "I, Your Magesty? She would dance with me?" She was... well, very pretty for a girl.
