Riku passed his hand gently over Sora's hair after he'd set the empty tea cup aside. "Terrifying, love? To you and I, who know better. She was a young girl, kept away from other people, knowing little of danger or the wickedness of the world. The shadow startled her, but she did not fear it. She did not know she was supposed to fear it."
"'I suppose so,' the girl said, uncertain what she could possibly have that she wouldn't wish to trade. Her harp? Her dolls? Her tea set? Her sweets? She was sure she could replace them all. 'You must be sure,' the shadow hissed. 'Once you decide, you can not go back.' 'What do you want?' the girl asked. Surely, she should be allowed to know that first."
"'You can not go outside as yourself,' the shadow growled. 'Your parents would notice you in an instant. And changing your form takes a lot of magic. Therefore, I will give you a new form, and keep yours as my own, until you return.'"
