A man close to where Riku was standing was hit with a Galbadian arrow. The man was young, maybe only a little older than Riku. He wanted to help him. But Barty pulled him back, pulled him away. Told him he needed to focus. Needed to keep fighting. There was nothing they could do for the soldier.
All he could do was continue fighting, shooting arrows down into a mass of moving men. 'Aim for the upper body,' Corin had told him. Aim with the purpose to kill. It was very difficult for Riku to adjust his mind to.
Below, on the ground among the Galbadian soldiers, there was movement. Riku noticed how, now, the soldiers were trying to stay out of their range. Working. Building fires, smoke obscuring their movements. "Barty," Riku leaned a little further out. "Barty, they're doing something." It was alarming. Riku hadn't really been told much of what he'd be doing, other than shooting arrows.
"They're going to start trying to come up over the wall," Corin warned, sharp eyes noticing the construction. A tree, cut down and blunted to ram the door. "Two fronts."
