Namine put a hand on Riku's arm, and gave Corin a smile. "I've never seen the King eat from a golden plate," she replied. She didn't think the castle had plates of Gold. Their King and Queen weren't the over extravagant type.
"Riku's marriage doesn't grant me a change in status by relation," she told him. Balambish nobility didn't work like that. "But I have only ever been treated with the kindness of a family at the castle. Even more so now. The happiness of those who I love is more than enough for me." She was contented with her life as it was.
Namine tossed the aprons in the laundry basket and started to help clean up the grease that had been smeared about. "Then neither was Riku born to be a King," she pointed out. Well, he wouldn't be exactly a KING, but close.
"If it bothers you so, why not buy us from the royal family?" she suggested. She was completely kidding. She came over to him and gave his cheek a kiss. "I am not bothered by it, so please don't worry."
