WHO: Maks Volkov and Taryn Howard
WHAT: A little shopping trip
WHERE: A Muggle animal shelter in Wales
WHEN: Mid Saturday morning
RATING: Low, I'd imagine
Taryn had had every intention of suggesting they go on this little outing yesterday afternoon after she'd been done with work. Being a half day leading into the holiday break, it was an opportune time to get some things done before sequestering herself in her home in pajamas and a new puppy and nap away the rest of the first trimester. Well, the napping had happened at least. She'd come home from work to wait for Maks, fallen asleep on the couch, and hadn't woken up until well past suppertime.
So, a Saturday morning would have to do. Not that Taryn was entirely convinced that getting a dog now was the best idea in the world. Dogs, especially adorable young ones, were very needy, and they were going to have something even more needy to take care of in just under seven months. But, that goofy, doglike grin on her fiancé's face wasn't something she'd ever been able to resist, so she was going along with it.
The crushing darkness of Appiration was worse these days, and she had a feeling it was only going to go downhill from here as she took up more and more space, but the book had assured her it was the safest magical method of travel available after the Knight Bus, and she was quite sure she didn't need any further reasons to vomit everywhere.
She appeared, gasping for breath and clutching at her still-flatish middle, in the back corner of her parents' garden. Trees and shrubbery grew thick here, and so it was the preferred spot for the Muggleborn and her fiancé to appear loudly out of thin air. It helped that the little house was on the far corner of the large farm, so there weren't really any neighbors to worry about, either.
She squinted at her parents' house through the thick shrubs in the moments between her appearance and Mak's, looking for signs of life within or without. Her parents still didn't know about the pregnancy, it had been a bit of a scheduling nightmare to get everyone in one place to do so, she wanted her sisters and both parents there so they could do it in one go, and if the stars aligned, hopefully they could do so this afternoon after they were done at the shelter.
She was pulled from these thoughts by the popping sound of Maks appearing at her side.
