Sam Carmichael Decorated Chocolate Shortbread Cookies A picture, is more necessary for this one, since it’s a decoration. Adorable and mistletoe-inspired. These cookies were a bit more time-intensive than his other batch, so people would have seen his brow furrowed more than they might be used to. He also fussed more, since he is particular about his shortbread consistency and texture, which left him just barely enough time to finish decorating them; the last few were somewhat sloppy, but Sam made sure to pick out the best ones for the judges! His cookies are the traditional buttery shortbread baked with bittersweet cocoa powder and a hint of cinnamon for a small kick. The white icing is peppermint-flavoured and the mistletoe is simply cut fondant (so relatively tasteless). Decoration: Again, not going to rank him, though I will say that he is better with taste than presentation. Slight variations from the picture include that the white icing is covered in glittery sugar sprinkles (like so), and those weird little balls of chocolate in the cookie were not there. Inspiration: Only Royalle knows for sure if he got it close, but he was going for "surprises" (mistletoe), "lights," and "snow" (the white icing).
