"Ren?” Tula gasped; sure her eyes were betraying her.
“Tula?” Ren responded uncertainly but as he took her image in, his expression became hard and angry. “What are you doing here?”
“We’re just getting supplies for the ship.” Tula took a step toward Ren but he backed away from her.
“You betrayed us.”
His voice was so cold that Tula almost started crying on the spot, but she kept her emotions reigned in for the moment. “I didn’t, Ren.”
“You joined his side!” Ren snapped angrily, although his voice wobbled slightly.
Tula rushed toward Ren, throwing her arms around him before he could back away. “It was all for the quest, Ren. I had to get close to Bloth, I could learn all his plans and I could stop him from getting the treasures.”
Ren breathed heavily for a moment, taking her words in and trying to decide whether to believe her. “What if you’re lying,” he muttered quietly.
Tula clutched his face in her hands and forced him to look into her eyes. “I swear, Ren.”
The young prince’s lip trembled for a moment and a stray tear ran down his cheek. “I didn’t believe it,” he pulled Tula into a hug as he spoke, “Ioz kept telling me, he kept saying that you’d betrayed us and that was it. I never believed it.”
Tula couldn’t keep her emotions under control anymore and started sobbing on Ren’s shoulder. “I wondered whether I’d see you again.”
Ren suddenly pulled away from her, a look of deep concern in his eyes. “Does he hurt you?”
“No.”
Ren shook his head slowly, “you’re lying.”
A deep voice suddenly called Tula’s name in the distance and both of their hearts sank as they realised it was Bloth.
“I have to go.” Tula muttered, turning away from Ren.
“No,” he grabbed her arm and pulled her back towards him, “you can come with me now. We can go back to the Wraith, Niddler will be so happy to see you again.”
“Ren,” Tula sighed deeply and looked into Ren’s eyes, “I can still stop him and you know that if I run now, Bloth will make it so much worse for us.”
“Tula – he might kill you.” Ren couldn’t disguise the sadness and fear in his eyes, a look that made Tula’s heart physically ache.
“I promise, I’ll be fine,” Tula turned away and started to walk towards Bloth’s voice.
Ren merely stood and stared after her, even long after she’d disappeared from view.

“The ship has been waiting for you,” Bloth tapped his foot impatiently as Tula approached, “where were you?”
“Just walking,” Tula shrugged, “I didn’t think I needed to be back for a while.”
“I see.” Bloth merely gestured for her to get on the ship, after which he followed her aboard and started barking orders at his crew.
