I've started this community because despite what I've seen on other journaling sites I don't believe that fandom is all about wank and hate, or that having fun necessarily means being cruel to other people.

This community is to give all fandoms a place to discuss anything fandom related. It doesn't have to be only things we're happy with but it does have to be discussed without wank and flaming.

1. Discussion of what's going on in fandom as a whole or your individual fandom.
   
   This is a wide ranging list. You can post about things you see happening in your fandom, you can post about what's happening with Live Journal/6 Apart. This is open to just about anything as long as it isn't simply a personal discussion or wank. It can be a topic that has the potential to be wank as long as you're willing to keep it adult. If it becomes wank it has to go. Everyone is entitled to their own views and to express them so be prepared to deal with differing views. It's what makes it a real discussion.



2. Meta.
   
   Probably not necessarily different that Discussion but feel free to express your opinions on fandom. What did yo like/dislike about a new book or episode or movie.



3. Recs.
   
   Rec your favorite fics or art. Rec your favorite artists and authors. Tell us why they're your favorite or why you think they deserve to be recognized. Give us all a chance to see all the good in fandom, rather than just focus on all the negative things that everyone sees and hears so much about.



4. Site and Community Promotion.
   
   The best way to promote fandom is to promote our own contributions. If you have a comm or a website that you want to promote by all means you should do it. Be reasonable though. Don't post with a giant banner that's going to mess up everyone's layouts on their flist. It's annoying and rarely makes people look favorably on your site. Don't just say "join my comm", tell us what the comm is, and why we should join. And this is the important one, don't abuse this rule; you can't post for the same comm every day. For now I'm going to limit it to once every 2 weeks. If we end up active enough I may change that later to once a month but I'll let you know if that happens.

1. Wank and flaming.
   
   If wank is what you want it's not that hard to find other places for that. The point here is that fandom can be supportive and friendly and not just simply search out places to be cruel.



2. Personal posts.
   
   Simple enough. "I had a bad/good day" or "I just got a new car!" belongs in your personal journal. Not here.



3. Fic and Art.
   
   You're welcome to pimp your work here (you are allowed recs although I'm not certain it's the best idea to rec your own work)but don't post it here. This is a place for discussion.

To be clear if myself or a mod believe you have purposely set out to create wank here, the post will be deleted and you will be banned. No warnings.

For everything else you'll be warned for the first offense; second offense you'll be moderated, this creates more work for us so it will make us unpleasant so don't do it; third offense is banning.

Now for those rules, I understand that things you don't think should be wank-y can move in that direction so we won't be deleting you immediately if that happens. I'm talking about those posts of "Look what this idiot did" or "X is a F****** B****" Or "look how bad this fic is" those are meant to hurt from the beginning and will get you immediately deleted. If real debate/discussion starts to deteriorate to that we'll warn you to be careful of where it's going first.

Everything will run more smoothly and it will be easier to find what we're interested in if tags are used. I've created some general ones, listed below, but please tag anything involving a specific fandom with the fandom name as well so that it can be found by people only interested in one fandom.
