Every once in a while, there is a door that appears for witches and wizards. One that lurks in the corner of a person's eye and begs their curiosity. A rickety old door with rusted metal and splintered, warped wood. Those that are brave enough to walk through it will find that there is not simply a dusty old closet. Rather, there is a world beyond that door -- one that is apart from time itself.
In a seemingly quiet, quaint little village lies something as dark and haunting as the door that leads to it looks. Once someone steps through it, there is no going back and you enter a world where nightmares become real.
The Cellar Door is a time-displacement Harry Potter roleplay with dark themes. We look to build an active, plot-centric community which tests the bounds of characters within the village. Will you be daring enough to walk through the door?

WALLED
The Statute of Secrecy was put into place for a reason. And, for the most part, people followed the Statute. However, on November 19, 2002, a building in London collapsed, trapping over 100 people inside. Several witches and wizards in the area sprang into action, using magic in front of Muggles to save every Muggle trapped inside.
The ramifications of their heroic action would be felt for years to come. After two years of peace talks, anti-magic rhetoric, witch hunt, and an attack on the Leaky Cauldron, the Muggle government declared war on witches and wizards. The war raged for fourteen months, ending in a bloodbath in Diagon Alley where 254 muggles, witches, and wizards were killed.
During this time, two factions emerged within the magical community. The first, Statera, advocated for peace. Lead by the Minister of Magic, Kingsley Shacklebolt, Statera attempted to negotiate peace with the Muggles. They denounced anyone who sought to harm Muggles. The second faction, Ferox, believed that witches and wizards should use their magic to defeat the Muggles. They encouraged their followers to fight back and to do anything it took to protect the magical world. These two factions argued constantly, leading to further unrest within the magical world.
Following the attack on Diagon Alley, the leaders of the two factions met to discuss a plan. It was agreed upon to abandon Diagon Alley and all of London. Wizards and witches would retreat to Hogsmeade Village which had been experiencing a boom in growth since the end of the Second War. Both factions worked tirelessly to place protective charms around Hogwarts, Hogsmeade, the Forbidden Forest and an area of land surrounding it all.
In January of 2005, both factions and their supporters moved into Hogsmeade. On January 20th, the village and surrounding areas were sealed off. Tensions were high between the factions. Many residents were still mourning the loss of their loved ones. With the two factions arguing on how to lead, it was only a matter of time before something exploded. The leader of Ferox, Pollux Rookwood, was murdered within the confines of Hogsmeade. Upon discovering the body, the two factions began to fight.
Understanding that they could not go on this way, the two factions met and came up with a plan. A wall would be constructed in the village. A number of businesses would exist in the neutral section, but all residential areas and other businesses would be divided. Each faction could decide how to lead their own people and neither would interfere with the other.

Time travel is a thing of the past. And traveling to other worlds? It becomes so commonplace that nothing seems to shock anyone anymore.
However, not all the research is done. Scientists have been adapting and analyzing every crumb in every dimension until they realize something doesn't add up. Do they really know what these people are like, how they work with other cultures, and what they are capable of under pressure?
A small contingent of the world's top inter-dimensional scientists (known as "The Conductors") propose a question: could people from other worlds interact and thrive together without the foundation of their own home dimension? Or will they simply begin to tear each other apart at the first possible occasion?
And thus Project Infinitum was created: in order to understand the worlds through which we travel, we must understand the people who live within them.

Following the Second War, Diagon Alley was dismal and deserted. The once lively neighborhood now housed abandoned storefronts and homes, with only a smattering of the former businesses remaining. The Ministry of Magic decided to turn their attention to rebuilding Diagon with the hope that it would breathe new life into the recovering magical population. The cobblestone streets were mended and buildings were sold at auctions. Knockturn Alley was cleared out of any dark magic and replaced with a young, vibrant crowd of artists and craftsmen. The residential alleys were revamped with new homes and bright, cheerful grocers and cafes. A theater was built next to Gringotts and new restaurants, boutiques and pubs came in, giving Diagon a second life.
The crowning gem in Diagon was a project that took a full year to complete. Fifty-four Diagon Alley is a ten story residential building. The first floor holds a booming pub and gourmet green grocer. The second floor holds a suite of offices, upscale clothing store, and a fitness center complete with a luxury spa. The building itself holds 100 apartments ranging in both size and price. The flats are customizable… for a price. And to top it all off, 54 Diagon Alley has a covered rooftop garden charmed to be a perfect summer day all year round along with a pool, two hot tubs and live entertainment offered on the weekends.
The residents of 54 Diagon Alley are diverse, but one thing is for certain. Everyone who lives and works at 54 Diagon Alley is looking for a fresh start and new, happy life. Come and speak to the leasing agent and welcome home.
