Jo looks up at him, steps faltering for a moment as she teeters on the brink between asking what exactly he means by that and just accepting the comfort. She does trust John and if he says Kubrick's not a threat she believes him enough to relax her muscles again and move her shoulders apart from their hunched up tension as she feels the invisible, tracking eye dissipate. Still, it matters how he means that because it could mean Kubrick's dead and she can't picture Uncle John killing anyone... but then again she would never have imagined Ash could either (not that it wasn't justified), or (and this still stings) Gordon. I should ask, I should want to know, I have to get used to knowing things like this don't I, if I really want to get out there myself? But it's so tempting to just be reassured, just for a few minutes, and she can always ask later can't she? She could ask Dean or Sam maybe who are on equal footing with her, who don't do mountain-of-impenetrability quite so well.
Her feet seem to make up her mind for her, they've carried her down the hall and to the spare room the Winchesters are staying in while her mind's been whirring away rather obviously and she has to shake herself a bit now as she stops, turning back to look up at John again. “Mom has them staying together,” she says softly, voice lowering a bit.“Oh, and, you know, try not to stomp or talk loud or anything,” she adds quickly to forestall any knocking or loud greetings from John, “Sam's head...” she trails off, then realizes how that sounds and adds reassuringly, “I mean he isn't hurt really, except the cuts and those are pretty okay now, but his head hurts a lot and he's really tired so...” she trails off lamely, realizing that probably didn't help matters at all, but Sam's asked her not to tell anyone and she won't. Much as she'd like to just let Uncle John fix this it's Sam's business and if Jo understands one thing it's wanting to work things out for yourself rather than having people rush in 'for your own good.' She bites her lip, face an unwitting mixture of stubborn and nervous and a bit protective, and steps away from the door so John can knock quietly or open it or whatever he's going to do.
