Lab Narrative Who: Rachel Where: the Lab When: Morning, January 1, 2010 Summary: Rachel makes the first observations Status: Complete
Rachel finished her inspections of the other patients - was it even fair to call them patients? - before she settled down at one of the desks. Going through the notes gathered that day, she made a few elaborations in the margins before tapping the papers into a neat stack and sliding them into the folder. One of the interns would be typing them up later, inputting them into the computers.
Flicking on the tape recorder, Rachel began to speak in a low, even voice.
"Day one. Subjects released - subject 14, Lily Evans and subject 8, Elizabeth Swann. Subjects happened across one another and engaged in discussion regarding the fact they've forgotten their past. Neither seemed very alarmed or overly inquisitive. Notation, discuss with Josef non-suspicious interventions should future conversations take dangerous turns.
"Acceptance of given reality seemed complete. Questioned, but accepted. Notation, if the subjects named on the cards are released into Haven, assign extra surveillance to meetings between them.
"I do have a few concerns with our staff attempting to write themselves into the cards. Patrick seemed a little too interested in working himself into subject 12's past. After I reprimanded this, he said he was going to bring it to Josef and Christoph. Notation, follow up on this."
Rachel paused the recorder to clear her throat before rifling through a few pages. Clicking the recorder back on, she continued speaking. "Expected release in the immediate future pending completion of neurotransmission, subject 2, Lawrence Dominic, subject 19, Remus Lupin, and subject 9, Jaime Davies. Subject 1, Gabriel Gray, is proving slightly problematic; neurotransmissions are not remaining stable once implanted. This is expected to be resolved sometime in the near future, though not as early as hoped."
Exhaling softly, she tapped her pen against the edge of the desk before continuing once more. "The point of this experiment is to determine whether or not "fate" or whatever force of the universe acts on people can be overturned. To determine if people are actually hardwired to respond to people in certain ways or if removing the associations removes the drive entirely. So far, no difference has been shown between the released subjects as far as reactions determine; I am eager to see if this changes when the individuals named on their cards appear.
