RP: Day One Who: Lily, Elizabeth Where: Borders by the Mall When: 11 AM, December 31, 2009 Rating/Warning: None Summary: Lily goes to work! Status: Complete
Good morning!
Your name is Lily Evans. You’re 19 years old, born January 30th. You’re a witch. You should find your wand beside you on the table. You are currently employed at the Borders bookstore next to the mall as a cashier/stock girl. Your bank card and account information is included in the folder on your nightstand.
The current date is December 31, 2009. Happy New Year!
You were born in Manchester, England. You attended primary school there, though at the age of 11, you were sent to Hogwarts school of Witchcraft and Wizardry, near Inverness, Scotland. You met a group of students on your first day, and were dating Remus Lupin throughout most of your school career. You despise his best friends, Sirius Black and James Potter. You don’t trust Peter Pettigrew, another of their friends.
You had another friend, one that grew up with you – Severus Snape. He was not sorted into your house, and you lost touch with him while you attended school. You’d like to know what happened to him. You would like a pet cat, and plan to procure one soon. You were skilled in charms and potions in school, and you run a side business with minor healing potions.
Lily read the card over twice, her brow furrowing slightly. None of this made any sense to her – who were these people? Such odd names, too. Remus, Sirius, Severus. Weren’t they odd names? Perhaps not.
Well, she supposed she’d have to be on the lookout for them, though she wondered why she despised and mistrusted the three faceless blokes mentioned on the card. She wondered too if she was still dating Remus; it sounded rather past-tense, and she frowned slightly. Her eyes shifted to her hands, but they were devoid of rings. Attention drifted then around the room. It was unfamiliar, but then, so was everything. She tried to recall what she’d been doing the day before, but it was rather like pressing against a solid grey brick wall. There was nothing past this morning. Nothing at all.
Surely she had a past though. Parents. Perhaps siblings? Surely she’d lived somewhere besides here, once? The card had no further information, and Lily set it aside as she stretched and rose. Opening the folder, she saw her job schedule and read it over before looking through the various other documents there. Informative things – bank account, hospital records (though she couldn’t recall any of the visits listed), results from exams in school, but again she couldn’t recall sitting exams. She knew the material, but she didn’t recall how she’d acquired it.
Was that normal? Shouldn’t she be able to remember it?
Well, maybe everyone woke up unable to remember their past. Shrugging her shoulders, Lily set about getting ready for her day; she had to be to work in an hour.
___________
Upon arriving at work, she had explained her situation to her manager, who didn't seem at all fussed by it. He simply ensured she knew how to do her job - which she did - and he set her loose on the floor.
Donning one of the aprons and one of the key-cards that would get her into the back, Lily set about stocking the shelves and roaming amongst them to aid any customers who seemed to need help - or who simply wanted to chat about books.
Strangely, she seemed to know a lot about current fiction ...
