Recently, I have learned a very valuable lesson. Under no circumstances should you ever allow a leak to go unfixed for any length of time. A small leak in the shower and another at the back of my toilet has now resulted in my spending more than a week making repairs to the bathroom while racking up nearly $500 in related expenses.
I've had to take down and replace part of a wall, replace the entire floor and retile it, replace the faucets and showerhead in the tub, and replace the toilet. I still have to recaulk the bathtub, replace the tiles that were damaged when the toilet went crazy (since of course that happened immediately after I finished putting the tile down), put in a threshold and all the molding, and paint the bits of the walls that I had to replace (if I can find paint that matches the current color, otherwise I'll have to repaint the entire bathroom). I did all of this myself as I couldn't afford to hire a contractor to come in and do it so... I am exhausted.
So all of this is why I've been MIA for much longer than anticipated. After working 45-50 hours a week in a temp job for 3.5 weeks, I came home to midterms and a renovation nightmare. But it's nearly done now! I should be around more now that the brunt of the work is done, but I'll probably still be a bit restricted on my internet time for most of April. I've still got a benefit to plan as well as a short (very short) vacation coming up and company coming in from out of state for an extended weekend.
