"Ah, hometown boy," she said, making a face at that before smirking. "Boston, Mass. The best city known to all humankind, but before that, Gotham City, New Jersey."
She watched him as she spoke, gauging his reaction. Mentioning Gotham was hit or miss as to weather people had heard of it. Those who followed super heroes and villians tended to, as did those who dreamed of being one or the otehr (after all, it was home to the Bat Family). Those who hadn't heard of it were usually people who were so wrapped up in their mundane lives that they couldn't see beyond the ends of their noses.
She bit her lip against the rush of excitement and longing that hit her. A part of her wanted him to be mundane, to be boring...to become the next person she tortured into excitement and life...until she killed him.
She wanted a new toy, something to break.
Her hand clenched on the beer bottle as she struggled with the emotions swamping her. She wasn't that person anymore. She wasn't Enigma. She also wasn't Effie and thus had no idea who she was, but being her father wasn't it.
She absently rubbed at her stomach where the scars still lay from Edward trying to kill her...nearly killing her, before forcing her hand away, just as she forced the memories back.
