Takes place several hours after Give the Other Fella Hell and Lead Me Away
Morphine, Kakashi decided fuzzily when he woke up again, was the drug that just kept on giving. He'd been sponge-bathed, re-dressed, re-catheterized, moved around by nurses--and he absolutely didn't care. In fact, he felt warm; toasty-comfortable in a way that had nothing to do with blankets or body heat; though there was a blanket, covering him from toes to chin, and stretching away in a vast swathe of baby-blue to envelop Ryouma and--
Kakashi inhaled.
--Tsume.
It took him a few minutes to realize that meant she was actually back in the bed with them, but when he did it didn't change much. It was nice, really, for her to be back. Ryouma liked Tsume. Ryouma liked pretty much everyone, in fact. Including Kakashi. Which was why Kakashi was here, guarding.
He made a faint noise that almost brushed the edge of a sleepy mumble, and turned his face into the pillow.
Yep, definitely guarding.
And enjoying morphine. He was fairly certain he could feel his spine melting. In a distant sort of way, he could also feel his skin itching--but sometimes painkillers did that. If he moved just a bit, he could probably rub against the blanket or the mattress and get rid of that...
Moving was far too much effort. Especially when Ryouma's hair was right there, making his scent drift up in sleepy drifts that smelled like a worn-out storm...
Kakashi yawned, summoned up the herculean effort it took to stretch a little, and tucked his head down, burying his masked nose in short-spiked black hair. He didn't really pay much attention to his left hand--or where it had landed. |
