Waki glanced down at the dogs. One--he couldn't tell which, they all looked the same to him--was licking the anti-histamine, smearing pink coating all over the floor. Waki waved a dismissive hand. "Sugar-pills." Then he peered at the bristling ninja. "T&I paged me. They want their glare back. I have a scrip here for it somewhere..." He searched through his pockets again, came up with a fuzzy, and shuffled over to hand it to the man.
The man took it with an incredulous look. Waki turned away, focusing on his real patient. "Why are you awake?"
"I hate you," she mumbled.
"Good reason. Look up." He pulled her chin up, checking her eyes, then flashed his penlight into them. The pupils contracted at different speeds. "Hm," he said with vast annoyance. He checked her pulse, then pressed his stethoscope against the upper part of her chest, bared by the V of the hospital gown, and ignored that she batted at him. "Hm." He hung it around his neck again and leaned down, speaking loudly. "Your gynecologist was very excited to hear that you came to see her."
The woman whimpered and buried her face in the man's chest again.
"Yes, yes, good choice. If I were going to hide against someone, I'd choose the one that didn't look like he was going to fall over, too. How does your face feel?"
She lifted a hand and brushed claws over the white padding, as if surprised that it was there. It snagged. Waki pulled her fingers away and untangled the threads of gauze.
"Obviously, you're still high on morphine. Good, good." He leaned down and shouted. "You're going to pass out again soon." Then he straightened and looked at the two men critically. "Kuromaru is not stable enough to move. But there are some..." he paused. "Sanity concerns in keeping them separate. So, we're going to take you all there. It will be like a ride. IV's and tube things and all of it." He waved his hands in the air. "Exciting." |
