Lazing Around in Bed. [Tag to Kakashi, Ginta, and Kotetsu][Dec. 31st, 2007|05:53 am]

Kakashi woke up in hospital. Ward D, room 614. He knew it was room 614 because he recognised the crack in the ceiling. Knew it was Konoha's hospital because he remembered the smell. Knew why he was there because of the bandage tied tightly over his sharingan, the medics never trusted his hitai-ate for some reason. The first -- years ago -- had said if he was going to cry bloody tears then he could damn well do it into clean linen like any well brought up boy.

He'd liked that medic. Sometimes he wondered what had happened to her. She'd had warm hands.

Kakashi reached up and pulled the oxygen tube away from his face, wincing slightly as the IV on his hand tugged. He didn't seem to be hooked up to anything beyond the basics; IV, oxygen, antibiotics, painkillers, catheter. That was good. Positive sign. Meant it was just the chakra thing -- that was sort of a given, bone ache, eye flaring with pain, yeah, usual day at the office -- and nothing else. Much better then his last hospital wake up, nothing broken.

"Hey, brat, welcome back to the land of the living."

Pakkun. Kakashi smiled slightly and cracked an eye open, wincing again as bright light from the single window blinded him. Closed it. Blinked. Opened it. "Yo, mutt," he tried to say, it came out a rasping croak. He coughed, winced a third time.

"Water on the table, kid, s'been three days. You should be able to drink."

Kakashi nodded carefully, and reached out a hand, finding an unopened bottle on the bed-side table. Usual place. He sent a tiny flare of chakra through it, testing for poisons and testing himself. His chakra wasn't strong yet, but it was there, enough to be useful. Good. And nothing but water he could detect, also good. He cracked the top off and took an awkward gulp--

His mask. He really needed to get that back. And someone had shaved him by the feel of his jaw. That was always worse then the catheter somehow.

Oh, look, there was Ginta. With Hoshika curled up on his feet.

The copy-nin blinked once, remembered everything -- in perfect detail, red-edged vision -- and blinked again. He gave the dog a look. "Traitor," he told her quietly. She wagged her fringed tail and whined softly, then rolled onto her back, delicate feet up in the air.

Kakashi snorted, "You're not cute. And you're not forgiven."
