"Oh, of course," Penny replied without hesitation, stepping forward with her dog to allow Gabby to pet him. Lucky was calm now, having accepted that Gabby and Penny were on friendly terms, which was truly all he was concerned about when approaching strangers. Penny gave him a reassuring pat and then looked up with a smile. "He's sort of like my baby," she admitted sheepishly.
Penny tilted her head to listen to Gabby's comment about her mother and she felt a faint swell of jealous. It wasn't an unfamiliar feeling, not with her family experience, but she wondered what it was like. Except... there was something about the way she mentioned her father that was less fond.
"It is a beautiful day," Penny replied. "I am glad I came out here. Do you come here often?"
