Gabrielle had begun to doze when she heard the barking of a dog. Jerking awake, it took her a moment before she remembered where she was and what she had been doing. She sat up, blinking in surprise when she heard the voice. It was another girl, and she sounded a little nervous. Gabby turned toward the voice, calling out in return.
"Hello!" she started, reaching up to pull a bit of dried grass from her hair. Her eyes widened when she saw the dog, but she smiled faintly, then looked up at the sight of the girl on the horse.
She must have looked a bit of a mess, her hair falling loose from its ribbon and her feet bare from her earlier venture into the water. She took a moment to brush what grass she could from her hair and to tie it back into place before standing and slipping her feet back into her shoes. "Hi there," she added, smoothing down her skirts as she turned to greet the new arrival.
