"I had wondered what upset her," he admitted. "She went to bed early tonight- normally she's out in the inn's common room talking with patrons until she falls asleep at one of the tables." Thomas gave a small, fond smile, thinking of her. "And Rena- she's always been very protective of Bridget. She's been working at the inn since Bridget was only a few months old, I think, so she's watched her grow up... Rena is the one who confronted me tonight, demanded I explain what had happened ten years ago. I- I'd only ever told my parents before, and they- they passed five years ago."
