He laughed, "Well, no news is good news?" Vaan wasn't quite sure if he actually agreed with that sentiment, but it seemed to fit well for this situation. He did however happen to notice that she moved a bit closer to him when they passed a rock in the middle of the path. His chest warmed and he felt the tips of his ears burn a bit. There was that feeling Thomas had been speaking about. He cleared his throat and continued down the road.
Vaan's eyes lit up when he saw her interest pique, "Yes! I didn't know we would be working together either until I went to the briefing last night." His smile fell when she mentioned something happening to him though and he regretted bringing it up. "Of course," he replied, a concerned expression on his face, "Of course I will. Anything f-" he faltered but continued without drawing too much attention to his comment, "-for you."
Glancing off the path he heard the river nearby and smiled, "This way." Leading the way down a small trail that stemmed off the main road he moved toward the water. "I've got to get just a few things from down here...you should see if you can find anything you can use for your tea! There are a lot of wonderful plants and herbs around these woods."
