"Hey!" Adelle grabbed the other girl's shoulder as she began to move away, pulling her back slightly. Adelle dropped her hand and stared at the floor for a moment unable to think of what to say. There were confusing feelings piling up in the pit of her gut, and she was unsure of which was the most dominant.
She felt betrayed that instead of punishment Abby had received something that was almost a treat. She was, well, not jealous, cause no one could be jealous of Abby, after all. But, well, upset that she herself hadn't been given such a privilege. And, though she hated to admit it, she felt a twinge of guilt for treating the other girl as she had.
Wrinkling up her nose, Adelle muttered, "It's no wonder that man didn't want you," before running in the opposite direction.
