Era closed her eyes as Emi instructed. A weight lifted from her, now believing that the other dragon really could be trusted. Blind faith did not come easily to her, and she hated how under another's influence she was. But maybe with Emi it was okay. She couldn't make up her mind. She needed to retreat and think it all over.
Those as her thoughts, she felt herself change. Her body stretched and scaled over. It didn't hurt, but it wasn't comfortable either. The only thought that ran through her mind was that she was grateful she had her eyes closed. She had no inclination to discover what this transformation looked like to an observer.
When she felt the magic dwindle and fade to nothing, Era allowed herself to open her eyes. Blinking several times, she did startle. Like a wild animal, she backed up a few steps. Her wings flexed, her tail twitched, her neck swayed - all physical assurances that she was once again herself.
Contrary to Emi's concerns, Era didn't flame her. Instead, she shifted her weight from side to side and then settled onto the ground catlike. She was dazed, her mind heady with all the things her senses were telling her.
