Penny hadn't quite expected Matt to smile at her little mini-tirade but when he smiled, she relaxed enough to smile back. She might never have the passion and fire that her sister had but she did have her own opinions and thoughts, even if she only just beginning to discover what they were.
"I'm glad you understand," she finally said, her smile widening. "And I'm glad I did, too." She was about to open her mouth to speak again when there was a sudden rush of sound out on the road. There was the sound of a crash, hooves, and then a bunch of barking dogs.
Penny glanced at Matt, startled and immediately concerned. "I think that was Lucky barking," she said, her brow furrowed. "He doesn't bark much. I... you wouldn't mind if I went out to check on him would you?" she asked, rising to her feet anxiously.
