Penny felt somewhat silly for speculating about what it was a princess did. After all, it did seem like useless speculation when she thought of it. What did it matter what a princess did, after all? But Matt took it in stride, making some reasonable suggestions. "I think she probably has to have lessons, I always had to have lessons growing up," she nodded thoughtfully. "And I couldn't imagine taking advantage of anyone, I'm so glad no one who wanted to do such a thing found her, that would have been dreadful!" she exclaimed. "I would not want someone to take advantage of anyone. Besides, she seemed so nice."
Matt's unexpected gift was a surprise to Penny and she gasped, uttering a soft "oh!" when she did. "A gift? Matt, you didn't have to get me a gift!" she exclaimed, though the idea that someone had thought enough of her to choose a gift was exciting. While she occasionally received gifts from her father from his travels, she rarely received gifts from anyone else. Glancing up at Matt to make sure it was okay, she carefully unwrapped the the paper, removing the beautiful woven purple scarf from the wrapping. "This is beautiful!" she uttered, unable to even summon the words for her gratitude because of her surprise. "I love it, thank you," she finally managed sincerely, tracing the flower pattern with her finger, smiling before playfully wrapping it about her neck. "How does it look?" she asked with a giggle.
