Edric frowned as he saw Angie grimace. So she had hurt herself. This was not a good day for him evidently. He said a silent prayer, and hoped that some good might actually suffice. With his luck, the lady might just demand him to pay her medical tab, even if she didn’t look like the type of woman who would do that.
Edric--deep down--knew that a chap was not supposed to touch a lady like so, but he needed to see if she had hurt herself. After confirming that she had, Edric felt even worse than before. “It is not fine, come on, I will accompany you to the healer. Did you get separated from your lady-in-waiting?” The lady was someone of stature, Edric was sure of that. He had noticed the material and craftsmanship of the simple dress, and deduced that she was either a daughter of a rich merchant, or someone from the palace. Hence, she would have had either a lady-in-waiting or a maid with her.
Edric did not want the coins, or any other form of compensation. It wasn’t her fault, for she had been overwhelmed by the crowds. T’was all. He helped Angie up and said, “No, keep your money. There is no need for it. It wasn’t your fault.”
