Rena followed without another word, nervous but still willing. She was determined to make some progress before it became too cold to swim, which she knew wasn't far off.
"I grew up with horses," she replied to Molly. "Just as you grew up with the water. I was taught to ride at a young age. It was an important skill to have inland. As you said, it is an important means of transportation." Of course, in Rena's family riding was also a frivolous pastime but it was just as useful as it was entertaining. Rena had, like the rest of her family, had to travel to various functions and events and while carriages were common as well, she much preferred riding to traveling in carriages. Those riding skills had been absolutely essential to her escape, as well.
