"Truly, I know it may seem silly, but training yourself to breathe out when your face touches the water keeps you from unnecessary coughing fits." Which sounded much better than saying if you breathe water you drown. "We could even take a few steps closer to shore and sit while we practice - if you're worried about losing your balance." Molly was trying to give Rena enough options that the woman would still feel in control of the situation. Molly always felt a good part of fear was feeling out of control.
