While Rena couldn't exactly share Molly's joy in swimming, she couldn't help but enjoy watching. There was something wonderful about watching Molly in her element, completely at east. It was as though she were a water sprite, or some other fantastical creature Rena had only read about when she was a child in the nursery to be pacified with fanciful tales. So long as she wasn't thinking about getting into the water herself, Rena was quite content to watch.
Molly's sudden words reminded Rena quickly enough that she would, eventually, have to get into the water. She nodded, realizing that it was true that she was rather tall. She eyed the water cautiously but because it was a pond, there was no current. Standing in the water wasn't so frightening. After all, she had taken a bath before. What could be the harm in that?
"I suppose I can stand," she offered, slipping off her shoes, the action slow and deliberate. She began to pull at her skirt, trying not to be too modest, though she looked away as she tugged the skirt down over her hips and stepped out of it. While she knew it didn't matter if Molly saw her taking it off since she would soon enough see what was underneath, Rena was still not accustomed to such things and looking away made it just a shade easier. "All right, here's the first step," she said with a breath, wading into the water to her ankles. It wasn't much, but it was a start. The water was cool against her skin, cooler than she had anticipated, but she found as she stood there, her body seemed to get used to the temperature.
