Rena nodded, lowering her eyes at Thomas's words. She knew that it was true; both women were fearful and irrational and it didn't seem to be helping anyone at all.
"I think the fact that Bridget needs me is part of the problem," Rena replied with a sigh. "I don't want to upset any of you, I'm just trying to figure out what to do." Perhaps it wasn't worth the drama of bringing this up to Thomas but she couldn't keep it from him any longer. After all, as he had said, they'd been friends for a long time and though she'd let everything get in the way of that recently, when it came down to it, she needed to tell someone.
Rena tilted her head as she listened to Thomas explain to her what families should be like. She couldn't remember much fighting amongst her parents but then, she didn't remember much fondness or love, either. "I have been trying," she insisted. "I really have!"
