"You have both been fearful and irrational," Thomas offered, hesitantly. With that in common, he wondered, why couldn't they understand one another? "But Bridget ought to be a separate issue than Abby. She is my daughter, too- yes, I know that Abby seems resentful, but if she cannot see that Bridget needs you, that is, quite honestly, too bad. I don't want you to step out of Bridget's life only to pacify Abby- that would leave three of us upset." Himself, Rena, and Bridget. Thomas sighed, taking a deep breath. "Family doesn't always get along. I'm certain that my parents fought- and you know as well as I do that not every husband and wife who come in here are on perfect terms with one another!"
