"No, it's all right," Rena insisted, not wanting the begin the conversation by making Thomas feel bad about that of all things. "I know and I'm not upset or anything, truly." At least, she wasn't upset about that in particular. Abby had explained all that well enough to Rena's satisfaction and, well, she was hardly one to point fingers for secrecy. Besides, she hadn't exactly made herself accessible lately. After Thomas and Bridget had returned she had opted to give them their space to settle back in, to be a family and Abby's words had shaken her further.
Rena shoved a lose strand of hair behind her ear, determining that she should stop avoiding the subject. "I'm happy for you and I wish you only the best..." Rena trailed off, realizing she sounded quite a bit like she was leaving. Which she wasn't. At least, she hoped not. "It's just... I'm not sure that your wife wants me here." That was not entirely true, though only in that Rena was pretty certain that Abby didn't want her around. It just seemed so silly to say it out loud, the sound of her own words, sounding so small and petty, embarrassed her and brought a flush of color to Rena's cheeks.
