Rena lifted the teacup to her lips, taking a slow sip of the hot liquid. The temperature was perfect, she noted and the second sip was less cautious as a result.
Abby's confident words defending her place at the pub were warming, in a way, making her feel justified taking the place she had. Still, her own lack of regard for herself was upsetting, particularly since it had been quite awhile since she had taken her place here. "The pub would have been yours," Rena said simply, as though it were a matter of fact. Perhaps it wasn't what Rena would have chosen but when she thought about it, she really didn't want to own the place. Abby's willingness to trade herself in for those she loved caused Rena to look at her in surprise.
"They would have never let you get away with that," she said simply, a slight smile touching her lips as she imagined the determination the Madison family. "I am glad you were able to find another way." Rena doubted things would have gone as smoothly as Abby would have liked and she imagined there would have been another rescue mission and things would have continued until all was right again or something went terribly wrong.
