"Charles is fairer, and takes after mother, while I after father, in more ways than appearances is what I'm told. They say Charles and I are as different as night and day." She pondered that statement for a moment. He's was, quite literally, Prince Charming. "I guess there's some truth to that," she concluded. "You should come to the castle and see for yourself. He can be insufferable at times, but he'll no doubt put his best foot forward if you were to be around!"
Angie wondered how she would introduce Penny to her mother though. As the girl she met sneaking out of the the castle? She knew she wouldn't have it in her to lie to her mother, nor would she want to. A friend for Greenville would do splendidly! Angie was a princess, but the second child in the family. Her mother was much more concerned with Charles and what he was doing than to pay any real attention to her.
It did sound like fun! Only Angie had looked over a very important detail. "Bother! I hadn't the good sense to runaway with a horse!" She wouldn't want to impose on Penny and her hospitality. She proceeded to excuse herself. "I think that's my cue. I should be getting back. People will be wondering where I am," she explained. "Don't let me stop you from your escape," she didn't want Penny to think any of it was her fault. "Enjoy yourself! Another time perhaps? You know you will always welcome to the palace. I'm fairly certain you wouldn't need an excuse to visit me there." "And thank you," she finally added, "for being such a great... friend." She smiled. The word felt foreign, but nice on her lips.
Before she left though, she could see that something had been on Penny's mind. "Was there somewhere you wanted to show me? I could visit there in my own time," she said. "Any place you favor will be a favorite of mine." "Don't be shy, you can tell me anything," she wanted to leave Penny with the impression that she could trust because she could, and Angie hoped that she too could do the same one day.
