Molly looked at Rena and tried to imagine the strong, confident woman before her as ‘afraid.’ It wasn’t a consideration that had ever crossed her mind before. It occurred to her that there may be a lot she was missing.
“Horses are absolutely terrifying. And I’m not the only one in Tide who thought so. I guess no matter how much you try to overcome it, you can’t help where you come from.” It was strange to think that little town had had an indelible impact on her. It didn’t hurt as much as she thought it would, but it did make her uncomfortable.
Molly laughed lightly with Rena. Rearranging the table so that her untouched dinner sat in front of her and the papers were off to the side, Molly settled more comfortably into her chair. “Well, at least we have the good sense to distress ourselves next to the fire.” Molly was not fond of cold weather.
