Penny found it hard to believe that she who lived in a house full of people would be less lonely than her sister, who spent much of her day alone and, as she often did, she envied her sister slightly. But as she always did, she forced the jealousy aside in favor of her love for her sister. "If you would like me to do some embroidery for you, I would be happy to do it," Penny offered with a smile.
"He teases him about me?" Penny asked in surprise. "Whatever for? Because he borrows books to read?" It never occurred to Penny that anyone might imagine her relationship with Matt to be anything other than friendship. After all, he wasn't exactly the sort of man she was looking for as a potential suitor and thus, the idea had never even occurred to her.
