"Oh, goodness! I don't know that I could even begin to cook. I wouldn't know where to start and would likely burn down the whole house were I to try," she sighed. "Is it dreadfully hard?" It seemed so strange to Penny that Gen would be doing those things, those things that were decidedly servant work in her mind, though she imagined that when she gave up her dowry and such for the love match, she would have had to resign herself to the fact that she'd have to learn all of those skills that the servants took care of. Penny couldn't imagine what that would be like but she wasn't sure it would be polite to ask; perhaps Gen didn't want to be reminded.
Still, her smile was brighter than she had seen it in a long time, however perplexing that might be to Penny. "It sounds as though you are pleased," Penny replied, surprised how pleasant it all seemed through her sister's eyes. It was clear to her that whatever she thought of it, Gen had her own ideas as she always had. "Here things are as always," she shrugged. "Just... quieter."
