If Gen was noting a change in Penny, Penny couldn't help but note the same, marveling at the way married life seemed to suit her. She looked different, somehow fuller, satisfied. In short, she was beautiful in a way Penny could have never imagined or predicted.
"You look lovely," Penny breathed, unable to keep the smile from her lips as she said as much. "And Mother is Mother and I'm not sure she's quite gotten over everything that has happened but she hasn't been causing trouble for me, if that's what you ask. Things here have been quiet, so strange and quiet without you." Penny couldn't keep the wistfulness from her tone despite the fact that she wanted to; she didn't want to make her sister feel bad and she certainly didn't want to dampen her happiness in any way but she couldn't help it.
