Thomas couldn’t have said anything that would make Molly smile brighter than she did at his words now. Her dads would have liked this man. Plus, she just got permission to break a patron’s fingers under the right circumstances. She prayed she wouldn’t get into a situation like that, but knowing that Thomas would stand behind her, she didn’t feel so powerless. “Okay then. I can start right away if you like. It’s not like I’ve got anything else to do. That is, after I finish my stew.” She looked down and realized that she’d only taken the one bite. Not meaning to seem rude, she added, “It really is very good.” Molly smiled again, giving up on pretending to be tactful. Today was turning out so much better than she could have hoped for.
