Penny's eyes went wide in amazement when Gen explained that Julius had made the ring himself. "I can't believe he made it!" she confessed. "Truly, it's lovely, Gen." It wasn't what Penny had ever imagined as a wedding ring, not the fantasy she'd always had in her head and yet, she couldn't deny that it was something to be admired, striking in its simplicity and perfectly Gen.
"I never thought I'd see the day when Genevieve Brisbois was in a hurry to marry," Penny laughed with amusement. However much Penny longed to fulfill her dreams of love and marriage, she certainly would never begrudge her sister her happiness; she loved her too much for that. "But I believe you have a point about Mother. She won't be pleased and you can certainly bet that she won't go down without a fight."
Penny paused, thoughtful a moment. "How quickly shall you get married? Would there be enough time for me to embroider something for you to wear for the wedding? I know you prefer things simple, I could start straight away - maybe a new stomacher for one your gowns?" Penny offered, hoping to use one of her talents to help her sister. She wasn't sure if her sister would wait long enough to have a new gown made but either way, she wanted to do something.
