Penny had been glad for the company on the ride back to the estate; usually it was a ride she made on her own and she found it to be quite pleasant with someone to talk to. In fact, she had found the company of the boy with the nice eyes to be enjoyable in general, finding him intelligent and interesting to converse with. All the same, both were eager to know what had transpired between Genevieve and Julius. They'd dallied in town as long as they could bear to give them time to sort things out but neither of them wanted to tarry any longer.
It was all Penny could do not to burst out with a thousand questions as soon as she set eyes on her sister, though she could tell from the way she was positively glowing with joy that it had gone well. She bid Matt goodbye, thanking him politely for showing her about and riding home with her and then went to stable her mare. She was patient but even Penny could hardly wait another moment when Gen suggested they walk, leading to a sudden realization on Penny's part.
"So that's his name!" she blurted out suddenly, her blue eyes going wide with relief; it had been awkward that she couldn't remember his name and she had been to embarrassed to ask it again. Of course, she hadn't even told Gen that she had met the shop boy from the Magic Shop previously. Apparently they both had a few things to share!
