Penny shuddered slightly at the mention of what could have been, reminding herself that however frightening it had been, it could have been infinitely worse. If that had happened... well, Penny didn't even want to think of it because it was too horrible to even consider. But the plan had worked because Gen had kept a close eye on her and because of it, the worse had not occurred.
"I should likely be there," Penny replied reluctantly. As much as she preferred this quiet time with her sister to let her emotions run their course, her presence might be crucial to convincing their parents. And her emotions, however, confused and disturbing, were certainly confirmation of what had occurred. Penny couldn't imagine Mother ever doubting a word her golden son said but when it came to something like this, she might be in denial. "Will you come with me?" she asked. Despite the bravery she had displayed, she was still frightened, afraid to go without her sister by her side.
