Bridget giggled and returned the wink- though her gesture was much less subtle than Rena's wink had been. A minute later Thomas brought dinner to the table, setting plates in front of the older couple as well as one in front of Bridget. "Be good, little bit," he said, smiling and kissing his daughter's hair before adding, to the couple, "Just call me over if she causes any problems."
"Papa!" Bridget wriggled her nose at this, but Thomas just laughed and continued about his work.
It was several minutes before Thomas returned to the bar, surveying the common area. He couldn't help but be amused to see how much the addition of dinner had changed the tone of the room- it was much quieter, everyone intent on their meal. For the moment, at least.
