Who: Ariel and Natalia What: Ariel wanders about and makes a new friend. When: Early afternoon, Saturday. Where: Summerwood Warnings: None. Status: In progress!
Ariel was becoming more and more confident in her Landings lately. She was venturing further and further - she usually stuck to the outskirts of a land, not going too far beyond the beach - and spending much more time on land -she still only rarely spend more than a single day, having only stayed over night a few times - than she had in the past. In the back of her mind, she was aware that she was stepping into potential danger every time she went on land alone; a pretty, young girl like herself with no means of verbal communication could get herself in quite a bit of trouble, after all.
She'd come to land quite early this morning and had spent the whole day so far just wandering about Summerwood. She practiced climbing trees, a recently developed skill, and only fell twice this time - she'd have a bruise soon, she could tell. She also ran. It was only a short distance, and to an observer probably looked less like running and more like not-falling over and over because she still wasn't terribly coordinated with her legs, even though she'd been using them pretty regularly for five years now. Sure, she was much more skilled at legs than your average mergirl, but Ariel's eagerness to master her legs was the single biggest obstacle standing in the way of that very goal. She was easily frustrated, and when she was frustrated, she was unfocused, making things only more difficult.
After eating a pair of apples - apples were so good - from a tree that another friend showed her to be safe, she stood up and looked around, deciding which way to. She decided to go straight ahead, and because she was feeling particularly adventurous today, when she came to a pretty heavily traveled path, she followed it.
