The back of his hand mounted his forehead and he grunted, pushing his empty glass forward and then allowing his head to slide slightly down. He smelled like wine and whiskey, and the glass he had just finished had been a bright green liquid. Grinning at nothing he felt his eyelids close and he thought a nap would be a fine thing to give in to. Yet his eyes snapped open and sluggishly he turned his attention to a presence across the barroom.
A Summer warrior sat looking as lost as the rest of them. Never before would a Fae so numbly sit while an enemy sat casually. So close. A few feet away. Not dangerous, just relaxing and taking it all in.
He had watched her mannerisms and disposure for a while now. She wasn’t lying when she said she had forgotten who she was and he was glad for that. He took guarding the prince as a reason to live. He needed reasons. Everyone needed them. So much death and the destruction of their lands which left no hope and no future. It seemed as though this was the afterlife they were being punished with.
His glass was filled, and he threw his head back and downed it while still watching her. She knew he was watching her, too. She stared back. He let time pass until it was clearly weird to be watching each other. He slid off the stool and made his way through a throng of Fae with giant wings who had just come inside and slid in a chair next to her.
"Do you seek something, Morgaine?"
