"I suppose you could say that. I've a job I quite enjoy here and a nice place of my own to live. I run in the mornings. Read in my evenings. I do miss having company. I've not managed to make myself social though that could be because there are few of my own here to socialize with and our troop tended not to bridge the gap as well as others when it came to that."
Harlow grinned as he watched the prince studying over the books available for sale. The shop was a small one though the owner seemed to keep an abundance of options. He'd rarely found himself lacking on something to offer a customer no matter what topic they might be of a mind to read on. It helped that they had a section solely for the fae themselves as it gave him the chance to speak freely as he was now with Gabrijel about their transitions and what he could offer to help smooth the way.
He'd no one to help him cross over or settle, but Harlow had already known much about the mortal realm prior to leaving Faerie. There had been little that he'd needed help with save some pointers on maintaining a steady glamour. That was something he still had trouble with from time to time. It was hard to constantly project an image differing from his own. He still couldn't understand why humans would react badly to fae except that he knew they did. It was better not to court trouble as much as he was able to avoid it.
"I find it helps me that I've never met a stranger when it comes to a talk. My father used to go on about how I'd lecture an anvil if I thought it would be able to hear me over the blows of the smith's hammer. He wasn't wrong. Did many of your friends make it across with you? Your family? I came alone myself. My troop was separated or lost to me before I made the journey. It's been interesting to be on my own all the time. It seems one can still learn about themselves if they're left alone long enough no matter how old one might be."
