"I've an interesting view on what's amusing. This, for instance, is reported to be Lady Cottington's Pressed Fair Book which features what she claims to be examples of fae she's caught for cataloguing purposes. I found it very amusing. They made a beautiful anniversary edition which has some even more entertaining tidbits in it about her specimen collecting habits. Some might call it macabre, but I only thought it was a bit of a lark."
Harlow pulled the two books to show to the prince as he started to look the shelves over for some more popular talk pieces. There were some dictionaries and reference books that were not even amusing they were so inaccurate. He didn't bother with those. He also pushed aside several fiction works which were a bit more ridiculous than entertaining though he went ahead to pull a few works of fiction that he'd found personally engrossing. If a piece held his attention, he tended to think that it would work for the amusement of others as well since he was generally not a fan of works comprised entirely of fantasy.
Holding out one of the books, he said "This is from a young woman named Laini Taylor. It's from a set. Blackbringer is the first. I found it a good read. I tend to prefer fact to fiction myself which means it takes a fair amount of action to hold my attention on a piece of fiction. You might find it a fun look. They seem to either demonize us or find our whole lot romantic."
He snorted at that, an equine sound that he'd inherited from his father. His mother had hated it, but it'd proven to be a trait he couldn't break even in the presence of royalty.
"I'm hoping I can find something you would like as I think that an evening spent reading -whether that's fact or fiction- is time spent productively. That'd be my attempt at saving you from bad habits. Sly, eh? "
